Taking a Look at Circumstances

Encouraged by this quote from Girl Talk Blog:

Here's how Scripture should inform our thinking: Every experience that we don't want but can't change has been assigned to us by God, ultimately that we might glorify God. Let's stop for a moment and think about a particular situation that may be happening in our lives at present--something that we may not want, we don't enjoy, but we can't change. And then consider this: God in His good and wise providence specifically assigned this to you and me so that we might glorify Him. Now when we begin to look at our unwelcome experiences from this vantage point, it can bring about a heart change! Rather than begrudging it or even despairing over it, we can instead respond with faith and joy knowing full well that it is a divinely given opportunity to glorify God.'"

What We Know For Today

"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?  And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?  And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  'Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.  Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.'"  ~Matthew 6:25-34~ 

Those things which we do not know regarding our futures are because God has not intended us to know them today.  If God intended us to know His will for tomorrow, He would have revealed it to us today.  He will take care of us.  In the mean time, we are to be faithful to obey Him today.  We are to focus on the tasks He has for us to do today.  We are to seek FIRST His kingdom and His righteousness.  We are to be faithful today so that we might live well tomorrow.

God know what is BEST for His children.  Therefore, we need to wait for Him and His timing.

We must be faithful day to day if we expect to have a pattern of being faithful tomorrow and the next day.  God WILL show us what to do in the future as we are faithful to do what He tells us to do today.

Ultimately, I would much rather be in the will of God than on a path serving myself.  However, getting my heart and feelings to always match  what my head knows to be right and true is tricky.
